Laboratory Assignment # 7
1. The pupose of this exercise is to build a Frame-based Web page consisting of a Frameset and three embedded frames. Using the Frames View, Frames Tab, and Frame Set Inspector of CyberStudio will greatly speed the process. Post your work to your folder on CS220.Projects. [See Lab Exercise # 6 for posting method.]
1.1 Create a folder, Assign7.www, to contain the four HTML files and associated image files for the assignment. These will include:
1.2 Open CyberStudio using the fourth tab [Frame Editor], open the Palette, select the Frames tab, and drag the format shown to your empty Frames window:
1.4 Create the three frames, Icon.html, TOC.html, and HW7.html. Icon.html should contain a single (or multiple) image icon(s), TOC.html should contain an index to the main topics in HW7.html, and HW7.html should contain any of your analysis of the problems of Frames in Problem 2 below.
2. The purpose of this assignment is explore some of the problems with using Frames and to investigate the extent and effectiveness of the use of frames on the WWW pages of major corporations.
2.1 Locate a University or Corporate WWW page which uses Frames.
2.2 Link to this page in the Body (HW7.html) of Assignment 7A.
2.3 Discuss the obvious problem arising from embedding Frames within Frames.
2.4 Scan the WWW for three examples of major corporations which use Frames and three major corporations which do not. Write a brief evaluation of the effectiveness of the sites using frames and the layout techniques employed by those sites NOT using frames.
